C. L. Rossman

C. L. Rossman: As for a bio...hmmm--I've been a professional writer ever since graduating Wayne  State University in Detroit MI, with a major in journalism. I've been reporter,  columnist and editor for a number of Michigan dailies and weeklies, but just got  started writing fiction in the 1990's. The books came out first, the short stories  were written (all in one gasp) in the winter of 2004-05. They've slowed down a  little since I've been putting them on the market. I find the near wilderness and  seclusion of northern Michigan a great place to write. (Well, okay, it's basically  farmland and not all that wild, but you get to see a lot of "critters" you'd never  see in suburbia.) My other published stories have in  "The Treestand " in Aiofe's  Kiss, "Between the Rows" in Kid Visions, "The Old Hunter" which won a 3rd place  prize in an online competition, and now, coming out this year, " Rough Company" in  Golden Visions, and "Vision Quest" in SW and W, with another, "Milk-toothed," set  for next April in SF Afterburn.

Anyone looking for my books can go to amazon.com or Barnes & Noble and look   up C. L. Rossman, or "Renegade the Hunter," and "Renegade the Warrior," my sci-fi  books.

Sean Farley

Sean Farley...began his work in film at the age of eight with a small role in Sam Raimi's Crimewave (1985). More roles in commercials and theater followed. A few years later, he gave up acting to focus on screenwriting and film criticism.

He first began writing professionally at 17 as a freelance film critic and occasional columnist for The Detroit News. After the death of his father, the 21-year-old Sean decided to fulfill a lifelong dream: he wrote and produced his first film, the 16mm feature, "Tainted." This grungy, ultra low budget comedic thriller, which follows a group of film geeks on their way to a midnight movie who stumble upon a vampire plot to taint the blood supply and take action, premiered in Detroit in 1998 to sold out crowds and was picked up for national and international distribution by Troma Entertainment.

His second film,  2007's "Surviving The Rush," which he also wrote and co-produced, marked his directorial debut. Sean will be reviewing films for Strange, Weird, and Wonderful Magazine beginning in the Fall '08 Issue. His first short story, "Mr. Masonic," will be published in the Winter '08 Issue.

Sean alternates his time between writing, seeing films with his two best friends, working as a management executive for a movie theatre chain and taking care of his unnaturally large (but adorable) mutant cats, Zeus and Keyser Soze.

Steve Lilly

Steve Lilly: My Minds Eye is what I like to call what I do. It sums up how I approach my artwork the most because I only create things how I see them! By that I mean in the way I see them. Sometimes I tend to look at life very different from most.

In 2001 I decided after 4 years of web design already that I would seek the degree. So I signed up @ ITT Tech. It was the first year of their Multimedia program in which I completed the 2 year Associates degree. I’ve been a Multimedia artist for about 11 years now and dabble in 3D Creation, Photography, Video, and of course Photoshop!!! I’ve done freelance stuff from Tattoo shops to Sports teams. I’m a Navy Vet (1st Gulf War) as an Aviation Electrician. I worked on various aircraft at Naval Air Station. Electronics seems to be what I was born to be involved with so Multimedia was a natural choice. I was born and raised in the Hoosier state and in all my travels I’d say is about as good as it gets. You can catch me @ www.mmeye.com or www.myspace.com/mmeye

Sharon Black

Sharon Black... was born in Hastings, Nebraska where she lived until four years old and moved with her parents to Smith Center, Kansas. Eldritch Tales accepted her first short story, Deeply Rooted, but the magazine folded, and she sold it to Hadrosaur Tales. She depended on Writer’s Digest Magazine for markets. After the internet was installed in the public library, did she have access to writer’s markets such was Ralan.com. She wrote a novel, Quarry Baby, and it was accepted on a website for a short time. Several poems and four short stories later, Sharon wrote for the Smith County Pioneer for a short time. She wrote a screenplay about the story of the song, Home on the Range.

Sarah Hughes

Sarah Hughes... lives with her partner in , home of the famous Yorkshire pudding and a group of sisters called Bronte.  Her nappy-wearing dribbling years were mostly spent asleep, eating, and in a pram, in which, apparently, she hated to go shopping.   Leaving school with few qualifications, Sarah did the self-respecting thing and joined a local rock band.  Dabbling in the music biz through the late eighties and early nineties she went through various ridiculous reincarnations but she's hopeful all photographic evidence from this period has since been destroyed.  Sarah used the skills she inherited from song writing to make the transition into story writing.

She's written three crime-based thrillers, a file of short stories and a time travelling novel.  She's currently working on a comedy sci-fi novel entitled Hotel Carousel and is hoping to see it published some time this century.  Her work has appeared in Best Magazine (UK), Twisted Tongue, Fiction, Aphelion, Gold Dust and Dark Reveries e-zine.  She was also a winner in the Secret Attic October 07 and April 08 Short Story Competitions and recently short-listed for the Dark Tales Summer 08 Short Story Contest.

Jeffery Scott Sims

Jeffery Scott Sims... was born in Oxford, Alabama, moved a lot as a youth, traveled a lot as an adult. I have worked as an archeologist on two continents, delved for Stone Age relics in Europe, explored jungle-shrouded ruins in Mexico... yet I choose to identify myself as an author.

Early on I was a great reader and writer; scarcely was I past the Dick and Jane phase than I fastened on science fiction, which remained a staple until adulthood. During the third grade I read all of the classic novels of H.G. Wells-- which to this day strike me as the epitome of that form-- shortly began writing my own little tales for the amusement of friends. As an adolescent I read a story, not heeding the author then, which began the permanent shift in my tastes. A year or two later I read a collection of tales by H.P. Lovecraft, soon discovered that mesmerizing story to be "The Shadow Out of Time". I was hooked, and have ever been since a fan of the double-dyed weird. In my teens I read half a dozen times The Lord of the Rings, found another outlet for imagination in pure fantasy. I began writing stories regularly, for the first time seriously intending to publish commercially

For an aggravatingly long span intentions were all. Market factors; my own amateurishness of technique; less than professional salesmanship; where the explanation for those lean days? All I know is that suddenly, without clear warning, I started to sell, and not only my latest productions, either. There should be a lesson in that. I never gave up, which must count for something. I am currently building up a satisfying body of genre work.

My literary gods, those I acknowledge as the masters, are Lovecraft (still, and always), Clark Ashton Smith, Robert E. Howard, M.R. James, and E.R. Eddison. Each provides me with the very best of what I crave from great stories of their kind. I measure others, and myself, against them.

Save for a few forays into SF, and the occasional light touch, most of my writings can be described as weird horror and dark fantasy. I write of beasties creeping in the night, or beyond the rim of the universe; I write of fabulous worlds and remote eras of my own invention. I have sought, my very best, to learn from the masters without imitating them. The story I pen is meant to be mine, not a copy of another's.

I prefer to read and write what I call clean stories, by which I mean those which present a plot, and the characters to drive it, and having done that get going and keep going unto the last word. Seldom do I clutter a work with back story-- endless chatter about personal irrelevancies or private "issues"-- unless the plot absolutely demands it, and even then I am wary of topical excess which may seem clever at the time, pitiful later on. I am first and foremost a story teller, and one who wants his stories to live beyond the fleeting present.

Many of my tales are one-off creations, written and done with, yet scarcely planning to do so I have fashioned characters who came to mean so much that they began to appear again and again. So I have written many a yarn of the obsessive researcher Professor Anton Vorchek, he of the keen mind and hazy credentials, constantly delving into morbid mysteries than no one else can fathom, often accompanied by his loyal but querulous young assistant Theresa Delaney. So too I have written of the cold-minded, somber sorcerer of yesteryear Jacob Bleek, a man of few words but eager desire for ultimate wisdom and power, the goal of a quest for which he wanders the world and beyond, never (mercifully) achieving, but always finding marvelous adventure. Those characters will appear again, along with the numerous others who pass briefly by to face unusual perils or suffer unimaginable fates.

It is a pleasure to imagine the unimaginable. I love such tales because they connote the broadest, most powerful, most scintillating exercise of the mind. I look forward to reading many more of them, and to writing more.

Regina Glei

Regina Glei was born in Germany but nourished a fascination for the Far East ever since she was a little girl. She graduated in Japanese Studies
and lives and works now in Japan for over eight years already. Her other fascination is with words and although she does speak and read/write
Japanese, she still prefers to write in English. Living far away from her home country for so long, has surely influenced her writing too; it’s
speculative and sometimes weird...

Her short fiction has been/or is scheduled to be published by"Anthro", "Alternative Coordinates", "Twisted Tongue Magazine", "Arkham
Tales" and has been shortlisted by "Allegory Zine".  Visit her web page at

A couple of years ago he decided to turn his hand to professional writing and attended classes at the prestigious Gotham Writers Workshop. Tim is the author of the horror novel Among the Living. He is also published on Alienskin and Fantastic horror. He has sold stories to almost a dozen horror anthologies, the most recent of which are Eric S. Brown's War Wolves and Rhiannon Frater's From the Witches Cauldron. Jeani Rector

Jeani Rector says… most people go to Disneyland while in Southern California, but she went to the Fangoria Weekend of Horror there instead.  She grew up watching the Bob Wilkins Creature Feature on television and lived in a house that had the walls covered with framed Universal Monsters posters. It is all in good fun and actually, most people who know Jeani personally are of the opinion that she is a very normal person. She just writes abnormal stories. Doesn’t everybody?  Her stories are featured in magazines such as Horrormasters, Morbid Outlook, Lost Souls, Horror in Words, Black Petals, Hackwriters, Bewildering Stories, Aphelion, Ultraverse, Story Mania, Macabre Cadaver, New Voices in Horror, All Destiny, and many others. You can contact Jeani Rector at www.aroundadarkcorner.com.
